Note: some of these gifts have been sold out but I’ve kept the links just in case they get re-stocked.
Cute toys – could try to consider them educational I love the Giant Microbes – plush dolls in the shape of various microbes. It allows me to say that I gave my husband syphilis for his birthday. I like the idea of the heart warming box featured at ThinkGeek but I don’t think I’ll give them to the young daughters of the Patience Family
Falling Water Lego and the organic architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright FTW. Now, how to get the waterfall… Wear your geek with pride!
Necklaces and other charms by Molecular Muse. I love my amino acid necklace (left) that spells out geek. It doesn’t seem to be for sale anymore but there are others.
T-shirts. I love the XKCD shirt (left) but there are so many…share your favourites in the comments. [You can win a XKCD shirt in the December 3.0 blog contest.]
The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks – I’ve already read the book but it is excellent. Every biomedical scientist should read it.
Other geektastic stuff
Glass charms – wine and science. Pretty enough that my non-scientist friends will tolerate them
Ring for lab and home – pop eppendorfs and beer bottles with ease
Coffee mug – helps remember the difference between geek, nerd, and dork
genegeek merchandise – starts with shirts and mugs. Can also get some StubbornTurtle gear here for slower runner (like me).
Geek Calendar – not only are the photos and people cool but it helps raise money for libel reform in the UK to allow open critique of fantastic claims.
Gift for husband (don’t tell): bacteria soap. I love these soaps and they will drive him nuts. I hope there are some in stock that can arrive before Christmas. Seriously, soap that glows in the dark is fun.
What geeky gifts would you like? Any others that you would recommend?
